Want to recycle like a pro? Here’s a detailed breakdown of what belongs in your bin—and what doesn’t:

Accepted:

  • Paper: Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, office paper, and flattened cardboard (But no greasy pizza boxes please!)
  • Plastics: Bottles, jars, and containers labeled with recycling codes 1–7 (Items should be clean and dry)
  • Glass: Bottles and jars of any color (Rinsed and free of lids)
  • Metals: Aluminum cans, tin cans, steel food containers, and clean aluminum foil

Not Accepted:

  • Recyclables IN plastic bags: Simply drop your items loose in your bin
  • Grocery store plastic bags: Take these to designated drop-off bins at grocery stores
  • Food waste or liquids: Scrape and rinse containers before recycling
  • Styrofoam: Includes cups, food trays, and packing materials
  • Hazardous materials: Batteries, paint, motor oil, or cleaning chemicals
  • Electronic waste: Old phones, computers, and cables (dispose of at e-waste facilities)
  • Textiles: Clothes, shoes, and fabric scraps
  • Tanglers: Hoses, wires, or string lights that can jam recycling machinery
  • Non-recyclable plastics: Bubble wrap, chip bags, toys, and plastic utensils
